가끔 상담을 하다 보면 의과대학 입학에 목숨을 거는(?) 학생 혹은 학부모들이 있다. 의사 부모를 가진 학생일수록 이 세상에 직업이란 의사밖에 없는 줄 안다. 그래서 서울의 의과대학이건 지방의 의과대학이건 가리지 않고 때로는 재수 삼수 사수도 불사한다. 의사하는 직업은 인명을 다루는 숭고한 직분이며, 현실적으로는 유복한 삶을 보장하는 안정적인 직업이기 때문에 매력적으로 다가온다.

 

그러나 현실적으로 보면 우리나라에서 의과대학에 진학하는 것은 결코 쉽지 않은 일이다. 또한 미국에서는 학부를 졸업한 후에 전문대학원으로 진학해야 하기 때문에 최소한 6년에서 8년이라는 시간을 할애해야 하고, 1년에 약 1억원 정도의 학비를 감당해야 한다. 더구나 100:1의 경쟁률을 보이는 학교가 있을 정도로 경쟁이 심한데다가 미국 시민권 혹은 최소한 영주권을 가지고 있는 학생에게만 문호를 개방하는 의과대학이 대부분이므로, 미국의 Medical School 에 진학하는 것은 우리나라의 의과대학에 입학하는 것보다 수 십 배는 더 어려운 것이 사실로 그야말로 “하늘의 별따기”라고 할 수 있다.

Cepu Medical Studies Programs in General Medicine and Dentistry at the MUS

 

Preparatory Course

Classes:             Science, English Language, Medical Terminology in English.

Location:          MUS main campus in Sofia.

                          

MUS Academic Activities

The MUS develops its activities in association with Cepu Medical Studies, offering the courses in General Medicine and Dentistry at its main campus in Sofia.

Classes are taught in English by MUS Professors according to MUS regulations.

 

MUS is in accordance with the European standards of Education:

›  Limited number of students admitted onto each degree program

›  Every three weeks, students are given achievement tests; in this way Professors are able to see each student’s progress, allowing for resit exams and extra credit work for those in need.

 

The academic year is organised into two terms:

›  1^st term classes begin in October and finish at the end of January;

›  From the end of January to the end of February, students complete their preparation and take compulsory exams in all of the subjects from the 1st term;

›  2^nd term classes begin in March and end in mid-June;

›  From mid-June to mid-July students complete exam preparation of all 2

Nd term subjects to then take the relevant compulsory exams;

›  In September, solely for students who have not achieved a sufficient level in one or more subjects from the 1^st or 2^nd term, the University organises resit exams.
