중국 북경에서 2013년 10월16일부터 3일간 개최된 “The ICEF Workshop and Conference” 행사에 초청을 받아 6일 동안 북경에 다녀 왔습니다. 작년에는 Sequoia Group이 “The ICEF Recognition Agency”로 선정되는 영예를 향유할 수 있었는데, 올해는 제가 CEF에서 주관하는 International Agent Training Course에 참가하여 성공적으로 시험에 합격하여 “IATC Test Winner”로 호명되는 영광을 누렸습니다. 전 세계에서 참가한 300여 명 이상의 컨설턴트 중에서 3명의 Test Winner를 선정했는데 이 중 제가 첫 번째로 호명되어 개인적으로도 크나 큰 영광이었습니다.

Ø  The IATC

 

The IATC (ICEF Agent Training Course) is a practical, professional training course developed by ICEF for education agency-based student counsellors which was launched in May 2010.

 

The course is available online and free of charge to agency student counsellors in a self-paced modular format. After taking the training course, agents have the possibility to sit an official assessment at all ICEF Workshops or online. Participants who complete the IATC assessment successfully will be issued a certificate, certifying them as ICEF Trained Agent Counsellors (ITAC). Agencies with at least one ITAC on their staff will be featured in an agency locator on ICEF’s website.

 

This session will give you an introduction about the IATC, its content and how to take the training course. The IAS (ICEF Agent Status) is recognised as an indicator of agent quality, showing that an agent has been successfully vetted for, and participated in, ICEF Workshops. The IAS is renewed through ongoing quality assurance screening and reference checks. Educators and service providers are welcome to join the session.

미국 영국 등의 기존 유학 국가에서 중국 스위스, 스페인 등지로 확장

10월 16일 첫 날부터 2시에서 6시까지 거의 쉴 틈이 없는 꽤 빡빡한 일정으로 짜였는데, ICEF Germany Manager인 S, Kang으로부터 The ICEF Agent Training course에 참가하는 방법, IATC 시험에 응시하는 방법 등에 관한 설명과 함께 ICEF Workshop에 참가하여 성공적인 결실을 거두기 위한 팁이 제공되었습니다.

 

최근 유학 시장에서 중국학생들의 수요가 폭발적으로 증가하여 부정 입학 등의 시장 교란 등의 문제점이 발생함에 중국 시장에 대한 정확한 이해와 문제점 진단 및 해결을 위한 세미나가 진행되었습니다. 북경에 둥지를 틀고 있는 중국 최대 유학원의 하나인 Beijing Overseas Study Service Association의 Vice President인 E. Xuewen가 진행한 세미나인 “An Overview of the Chinese Education System and Perspectives on Institutional Partnerships with Chinese HE Programmes”와 Dr. Dr. Zhining Ding이 마련한 “The Chinese Study Abroad Market: 2013 Trends“는 중국 유학 시장에 관한 통찰력을 제공하는 유익한 시간이었습니다.

 

한편 주목할 만한 것은 Chinese와 Spanish 언어 연수 프로그램이 다양하게 선보였다는 것입니다. 현 유학 시장에서는 영어 언어 연수가 가장 보편적이고 절대적으로 수요가 많은 것이지만, 다양한 언어와 문화에 대한 이해가 필요성이 증가됨에 따라 중국어와 스페인어 등의 언어 연수 시장에 관한 관심이 높아지고 있다는 것을 반영하는 것이라 하겠습니다.

 Ø The advantages of learning Spanish and studying in Spain

Spanish is spoken by nearly 500 million people worldwide. It is the world’s second most spoken language and the third most used on the internet. The Chinese market is a perfect example of the growing demand for Spanish as a second language, with an astonishing 1000% increase in Chinese students learning Spanish in Spain from 2001 to 2011.

 

Bilateral relations between China and Spain have strengthened in recent years and academic efforts have been made from both sides. In 2007, the countries agreed to recognize each ther´s degree programs, and academic partnerships were forged between 100 Chinese and Spanish universities.

 

Besides its excellent academic level, Spain has a rich culture, good year-round climate and exciting variety of study destinations. Sandro Humann represents Estudio Sampere, one of the pioneer schools for Spanish as a foreign language and a founding member of IALC.

 

Ø  The Chinese Study Abroad Market: 2013 Trends

With the fast development of the Chinese economy, more and more Chinese students are choosing to study abroad. Statistics show that the number of Chinese students who went to study abroad in 2011 was 339,700, making China the biggest market for international education. And the market has been increasing at double digit speed since 1999. Meanwhile, Chinese students and parents increasingly have higher expectations for agency services as well as direct and clear information from education providers.
