미증유의 전세계적인 COVID-19 사태로 교육계에 급작스러운 많은 변화가 일어났다. 학교 봉쇄 조치로 말미암아 봄 방학이 길어지고, 개학이 늦춰지고, 정규 수업은 가정에서 온라인수업으로 대체되었다. 많은 학생들이 특정 장소에 모여 시험을 치러야 하는 TOEFL, SAT, ACT, IB, GCSE, A-LEVEL 등의 시험은 온라인시험으로 대체되거나, 아예 취소되는 경우도 생겨났다.

 

 

 

 

2020년 AP 시험 온라인으로 5월과 6월에 치러져

 

College Board에서 며칠 전 매년 5월 초에 실시하는 AP 시험에 대한 정책을 발표하였다. 기존의 5월 시험과 아울러 6월에 Make Up 시험도 실시한다. 시험 방식도 드라마틱하게 변화되었기 때문에 이에 대한 시험 안내를 해 보기로 한다. AP 시험은 온라인 시험 방식으로 가정에서 한 섹션에 45분간 시험을 치게 되는데 기존의 객관식 시험은 없애고, 주관식의 Open Book / Open Note 방식이 도입되었다.

 

 

 

Open Book / Open Note 방식의 시험 방식 도입 돼

 

①     AP 시험은 2020년 5월 11일부터 5월 22일까지 실시된다.

②     Make Up Test는 6월 1일부터 6월 5일까지 실시한다.

③     AP 시험은 학생 각자가 집에서 온라인 도구를 이용하여 시험을 치르되 5월에 학교가 다시 문을 여는 경우 학교에서 시험을 치르도록 한다.

④     AP 시험 점수는 1-5점으로 채점되며 5월에 친 시험은 7월에 결과를 발표한다.

⑤     예전과 달리 AP 시험은 공평성을 확보하기 위해 이전 3월초까지 오프라인 수업에서 커버했던 수업내용까지를 시험 범위로 한다.

⑥     대학에서 시험을 치듯 Open Book / Open Note 형태로 시험을 치게 된다

⑦     모든 시험 과목은 제한된 시간 안에서 1-2개의 문제에 대해 주관식으로 기술하는 형태로 답안을 작성하게 된다.

⑧     각 과목 시험은 시험 시간 이전 컴퓨터, 태블렛, 스마트폰을 세팅하여 시험 준비하는 시간 30분, 45분간 시험, 5분간 답안을 업로드 하는 시간으로 구성된다.

⑨     다음과 같은 과목들은 2020년 5월 26일 11:59분 (EDT) Portfolio를 제출해야 한다.

·         2-D Art and Design

·         3-D Art and Design

·         Drawing

·         Computer Science Principles (note: this portfolio submission is best done on a laptop)

·         Research

·         Seminar

 

 

 

Open Book/ Open Note란 무엇인가?

 

대학에서 시험치 듯 올해 AP 시험은 Open Book / Open Note 방식을 채택했다. 학생들은 시험 칠 때 수업 시간에서 배운 교과서나 노트를 참고하여 답안을 작성할 수 있다. 그러나 이를 쉽게 생각하고 시험에 나온 문제를 보고 책이나 노트에서 베껴 쓴다고 생각하면 오산이다. 평소에 배운 내용을 책이나 노트 기타 자료를 이용하여 완벽하게 정리해 놓아야 제한된 시간 45 분 안에 쓸 수 있는 것이기 때문이다. 시험 시간에 자료를 찾는다고 하면 자료 찾는데 시간을 다 소비해 버리게 되므로 제대로 된 답안을 작성할 수 없다. 따라서 AP 시험은 사전에 완벽하게 준비해 놓아야 한다.

 

Open Book / Open Note 시험은 부모가 시험을 쳐주는 게 아니다. 더구나 책이나 자료의 도움을 받는 것인데, 부모의 도움을 받는 게 뭐가 문제냐고 궤변을 늘어 놓을 것은 더 더욱 아닌 것이다.

 

 

 

Open Book / Open Note 방식의 시험에서 주의할 점

 

①     수험생은 타인, 온라인이나 모바일을 통해 검색을 해가면서 시험을 치는 것이 아니고, 책, 노트, 자신이 정리해 놓은 자료만을 가지고 답안을 작성해야 한다는 것을 명심해야 한다.

②     시험 치는 동안 수험생은 다른 사람, 모바일, 기타 방식으로 시험에 도움이 되는 소통을 해서는 안 된다.

③     그룹 메시지, 온라인 포럼, Social Media를 참조해서는 안된다.

④     영문 번역을 포함하여 타인의 도움이나 번역 도구 등의 기술적인 지원을 받아서는 안된다.

 

 

 

 

Tips for Success on Open Book/Open Note Exams

 

Open book/open note exams are not easy. Answering AP Exam questions takes more than copying information from notes. Finding facts, formulas, or other information in your notes is only one step to answering an exam question—you have to apply the information in order to complete the task.

 

You still need to prepare for the exam. You should prepare for an open book/open note exam just as you would a traditional AP Exam. Having resources available may save you time in memorizing information; however, you still need to know how to apply the information efficiently and correctly. This takes preparation.

 

More materials aren’t always better. You'll need to answer multiple questions on your AP Exams and you'll have limited time to do so. The more time you spend looking for information, the less time you'll have to use it in writing your answer.

 

You should not copy responses from notes or resources. We designed this year's AP Exams knowing you have access to your notes and resources, so the exam questions will ask you to apply concepts from your notes and resources in new ways. Copying what you have done in the past won't produce a satisfactory answer.

 

Your class notes are better than internet searches. The internet can be an excellent source of data and facts, but it's also a source of misinformation, diverging opinions, and manipulated content. In the experience of our faculty, students taking open book/open note exams who try to find the answer on the internet often earn fewer points than students who use their time to apply their own learning to develop a logical response.

 

Collaborating with others is not considered acceptable open notes: AP Exams give you an opportunity to show your mastery of a subject—not someone else’s. It is strictly forbidden to give or receive aid during the exam. Any students found using the work of others, exchanging or sharing information on exam topics, collaborating via any online platform, or soliciting tips for problem-solving approaches will be investigated for violating exam security.

칼리지보드는 만약에 발생할 수 있는 대리시험은 물론 학생들이 시험을 치르면서 채팅을 하거나 전화를 걸거나 교과서를 찾아서 답을 베끼는 부정행위를 찾아낼 수 있도록 표절 검사 프로그램을 설치해 답안지를 조사한다고 밝혔다. 이 프로그램은 수백 만장의 답안지를 스크린해 표절 등을 확인할 수 있는 것으로 알려졌다.
